Privacy Policy

Effective date: 14 October 2026
Last updated: 14 October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information simirfilm.com (the "Site") collects, why, and what we do with it. The Site is the official website of Simir, A Movie, an ORCH5 Films production. It is owned and operated by Anand Pandey ("we," "us," "our").

We keep this short because we collect very little. If anything here is unclear, write to us at desk@orch5.com.

1. What we collect

A. Information you give us

  • Storybook sign-up: your name, email address, whether you are a film industry professional or a film lover, and the language you choose for the book (English or Hindi).
  • Press kit form: your name, email address, publication or organisation, and, if you choose to give it, your role.

Both forms also contain a hidden field that people never see. It exists only to catch automated spam and collects nothing about you.

B. Information collected automatically, only with your consent

  • Analytics: if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site: pages viewed, time spent, the website that referred you, approximate location (country or city), and device and browser type. We see this only as overall totals and trends. If you click "Decline," or make no choice, Google Analytics does not run.

C. Information stored only in your own browser

  • Your dark or light theme choice and your cookie choice are saved in your browser so the Site remembers them. This stays on your device. We cannot see it.

D. Information our web host records

  • Like every website, our hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request, for security and to keep the Site running.

We do not run user accounts, comments, payments or advertising, and we do not use advertising or social-media tracking pixels.

2. How we use it

  • To email you the storybook download link in the language you chose.
  • To send you news about Simir, A Movie, Anand Simir's stand-up shows and ORCH5 Films, if you signed up for the storybook. Every such email carries an unsubscribe link.
  • To send press news about Simir, A Movie and ORCH5 Films, if you used the press kit form. You join our press list when you download the press kit, as the form explains.
  • To understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used, so we can improve it (only if you accepted analytics).
  • To keep the Site secure and working.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who handles it for us

We use a small number of service providers to run the Site. They process information only to provide their service to us:

  • Google (Gmail, Google Sheets, Google Drive, Google Apps Script): stores form entries, sends the storybook email and hosts the storybook and press kit files.
  • Google Analytics: measures Site usage, only with your consent.
  • Hostinger: hosts the Site.
  • A newsletter service, such as Substack: we may use one to send updates to our mailing list. If we do, we share only the names and email addresses of people who are subscribed.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside India. By using the Site's forms, you understand that your information may be processed in other countries.

The Site links to other websites, such as music streaming services, DistroKid's song page, Google Drive and our social media pages. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave our Site.

4. How long we keep it

  • Storybook subscribers: until you unsubscribe. After that, we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so we do not email you again.
  • Press list: until you ask us to remove you.
  • Google Analytics data: for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account, currently 14 months, after which Google deletes it.
  • Server logs: for the period our web host keeps them for security purposes.

5. Your rights and choices

You can:

  • Unsubscribe from our emails at any time, using the link at the bottom of any email or by writing to desk@orch5.com.
  • Ask us for a summary of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct or update it.
  • Ask us to delete it.
  • Withdraw your consent to analytics at any time, using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
  • Raise a complaint with us (see section 9).

These reflect your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If the law of the country where you live gives you further rights, write to us and we will honour them as that law requires.

We will reply within 30 days.

6. Cookies

The Site sets cookies only if you accept analytics:

  • Google Analytics cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID): used to tell visits apart and measure Site usage. They expire after up to two years.

If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page, and you can also delete cookies through your browser's settings. You can also install Google's opt-out tool: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout

7. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. The Site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and form entries are stored in a private Google account with access limited to us. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children

The Site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us their details, write to desk@orch5.com and we will delete them.

9. Contact and grievances
